Step 1:
Resume and Application Submission
- Do they have the key background and competencies on paper?
- I like to ask for a 1 min video asking them to describe their proudest professional achievement.
- Strong video plus written submission are critical to be worth an intro interview.
Step 2:
Introductory Interview
- Afterwards, are you blown away and really excited?
- Did the interview GIVE you energy or TAKE energy?
- Get a sense of their long term goals and vision for themselves. Does it align with what you’d like for the role?
Step 3:
Work sample or simulations
- The candidate performs a simulated real task. Work samples are generally the most predictive of someone’s success in a role.
- Examples:
- Develop a 90-day plan for XYZ project.
- Write a blog post for me on [insert] topic.
- Conduct competitive research into the following opportunity.
- Complete a vendor review for the following need and present a written recommendation.
Step 4:
Interview with another team member
- Another trusted person on your team interviews the candidate to assess fit.
- A great CoS must work well as an extension of you with your entire team.
Step 5:
Final Interview
- Investigate any last areas of concern.
- Assess final fit.
